Waitsfield Indoor Face Covering Rule

Update:

On March 14, 2022 the Waitsfield Selectboard voted to rescind the Rule Requiring Face Covers Indoors. Individual business and property owners may still impose their own rules but there is no longer a local rule in place.

Background & History:

On December 6th, 2021 the Waitsfield Selectboard adopted a Rule Requiring Wearing Face Covering Indoors in Public Places, under the authority of Act 1 (an act relating to temporary municipal rules in response to COVID-19.

On January 10th, 2022 the Waitsfield Selectboard amended the original Rule Requiring Wearing Face Covering Indoors in Public Places and extended the rule for another 30 days.

On February 14, 2022 the Waitsfield Selectboard re-adopted the 1/10/22 version of the Rule Requiring Wearing Face Covering Indoors in Public Places and extended the rule for another 30 days. The Selectboard reconsidered the rule on February 28th and decided to keep the rule in place until their next meeting on March 14th when the rule was rescinded.

The temporary law that grants the town this rulemaking authority will sunset on April 30, 2022, at which point any local mask rules in place will automatically expire.
