A sudden storm over Waitsfield and parts of Fayston in the afternoon of Friday, May 20, 2011 dropped heavy rainfall so quickly, many streams and culverts were overtaken causing extensive damage. It was reported that 4 inches fell in 45 minutes. It was not until the next day and those that followed was the extent of the damage more fully understood. The Selectboard held a special meeting on Sunday, May 22 and declared a state of emergency. Below are roads that were most heavily affected by the storm.
