The Waitsfield Selectboard, at its 10/07/19 meeting, adopted the following amendment to the Traffic Ordinance [Article IV (“Speed Regulations”), Section 1 (“Paved Roads”)] :
“T.H.#23 (Carroll Road) – A maximum speed of 25 m.p.h. from the intersection of Vt. Route 100 to the Fayston town line.”
The amendment, once effective, would lower the speed limit on Carroll Road from 35 m.p.h. to 25 m.p.h. The amendment is based upon the results of a traffic study conducted by Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission, and included consideration of factors such as safety, pedestrian activity, length of the paved portion of the road, and the lack of an outlet or secondary exit.

The petition must include signatures from 5% of registered voters within the Town, and be filed within 60 days of the Selectboard’s action. The deadline for an appeal is 12/6/19; if no appeal is filed the speed limit change is automatically effective at that time.
